With treacherous track conditions due to heavy rain earlier in the evening, Legends Young Lions driver Bryson Ruff drove his way to his first-career Bojangles’ Summer Shootout Legends Car victory on Tuesday, June 26.
Ruff’s No. 24 Bojangles’/ Barringer Construction/ Your Pie/ Victory Lane Indoor Karting / Wild Bill Fitness Legends Car team, lead by Tony Ferguson, Mark Nahrstedt Race Cars, Cameron Lowman, and Justin Starnes, prepped his ride for the wet conditions, and after starting from the second position, it paid off as Ruff drove to the lead. With the wet, slick racing conditions, Ruff stayed smooth and consistent in the high line to try and keep grip during the race, which was plagued with cautions and spins as all the drivers tried to pick their path around the quarter-mile oval. Spotter Carson Ferguson kept Ruff informed of the lapped traffic, which helped the young racer drive to his first victory in a Legends Car during the Summer Shootout Series.
