Bryson Ruff and his crew traveled across the country to compete in the Legends Asphalt Nationals event at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (NV) from Thursday, October 25th through Saturday, October 27th. The No. 24 Bojangles’/ Barringer Construction/ Your Pie/ Victory Lane Indoor Karting / Wild Bill Fitness machine had a solid practice day on Thursday, but the motor expired at the end of the morning practice session on Friday.
With very few options available except packing up the car and heading home early, Kyle Beattie Racing saved the day by allowing Bryson to borrow an engine. The team managed to get it into the car for the second heat race of the day. Unfortunately, Ruff had missed qualifying and the first heat race, which caused him to have very few points to set his feature race starting position on Saturday.
The No. 24 started 23rd in Saturday’s Asphalt Nationals Young Lions 35-lap feature race. Ruff made some big moves from the drop of the green flag and worked his way up to 7th with 15-laps remaining. However, the rough driving of a competitor sent Ruff out of the groove causing him to lose several spots. When the checkered flag flew, the young driver crossed the stripe in a respectable 12th place. The driver and crew were extremely happy with the performance after facing the potential of a long trip back home without even being able to race just one day earlier.
Ruff will return home to North Carolina and the team will get the car ready for the Winter Heat Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) beginning in December, with their young driver moving up to the Legends Pro Division.
