As Bryson Ruff and the Mark Nahrstedt Race Cars team rolled into Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) on Tuesday, July 23rd for Round 8 of the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout, the sky seemed more than a little threatening. Shortly after the team unloaded the No. 24 Bojangles’/ Barringer Construction/ Your Pie/ Victory Lane Indoor Karting / Wild Bill Fitness machine, the skies opened up and thoroughly soaked the racing surface just prior to qualifying.
Ruff qualified 7th, forcing him to heat race on a still wet race track. He finished 3rd in the heat, which gave him a 9th-place starting position in the 25-lap Pro Division feature. Early in the race, Bryson quickly worked his way up through the field, almost into the top-5, but a restart once again stuck him on the outside line. The still damp track made the outside line even more difficult to be in. He managed to hold on to an 11th-place finishing position.
The team will return to CMS for the final two rounds of the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout next Monday and Tuesday, July 29th and 30th!
