Rain, Three Wide in Turn One, and The Fastest Car on the Track for Round 2 of Bojangles’ Summer Shootout

Bryson and the Devo Motorsports team rolled into Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) with the No. 24 Barringer Construction/ Your Pie/ Victory Lane Indoor Karting/ Wild Bill Fitness machine ready for battle. There was rain forecasted for the entire day, but Bryson was confident that the car would be good. He has raced in the rain before and that experience would benefit him greatly.

Being quick in practice, the team was expecting a good qualifying effort. Other competitors found a ton of speed in the final practice that carried over to qualifying. Bryson ran a 23.223 on a rain soaked track, which secured him the 5th place starting position. When the green flag dropped, Bryson drove deep into turn one alongside the leader and the third place car. Three wide into turn one is rare, especially in the rain. Bryson made the most of it and advanced to 2nd. It would be short lived as on the very next lap. The 3rd place car gave him a hard hit to the rear sending him sliding off the track and losing all momentum. Bryson dropped to the rear of the field in 9th. For most people, this would kill their day. Bryson regrouped and drove his car with purpose. For the remainder of the race, his car ran the fastest times of any other competitor on the track. Picking cars off one at a time, Bryson made smart moves and passed cars like they were sitting still. In 23 laps, He managed to work his way up to 5th place. The team made big improvements and found some speed they had been looking for. Now on to Round 3 to see if they can gain a little redemption and take a win.
